Melvin Williams brings over 10 years of litigation
experience to represent clients in complex litigation
matters primarily in the areas of civil rights, sexual
harassment, racial discrimination, major personal injury and
criminal defense. He is admitted to practice law in state
and federal courts and administrative bodies in the
Commonwealth of Virginia, including the Supreme Court of the
United States.
Prior
to forming a partnership with Terry Grimes, Melvin
represented defendants and insurance companies in personal
injury actions, and defended government officials in civil
rights actions. He began his legal career as a prosecuting
attorney, where he vigorously prosecuted internet crimes
against children. He has taught and lectured on criminal
law and procedure, search and seizure issues, investigation
and prosecution of internet crimes, and civil litigation.
Melvin
received his Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude,
from Bridgewater College of Virginia in 1995, majoring in
Political Science and minoring in Philosophy/Religion. In
1998, The College of William and Mary’s Marshall-Wythe
School of Law awarded Melvin his law degree, where he served
with distinction on the moot court and trial court teams.
When
not practicing law Melvin is active as a lay minister and
enjoys the outdoors, to include hiking and mountain biking,
and traveling and scuba diving with his wife, Pamela.
